REFLECTION RELATIONSHIPS

Relationship Reflection

Introduction

Relationships or partnerships are the order of the world. No person can be alone for a long time, for it takes two to achieve anything in life, either negative or positive, that is why it is said that no man is an island. Relationships are either made, such as that between parents and siblings or are created, such as that between friends.

The relationship is important to me as I have always loved to be among people. I delight in having to visit, chat and help people. I am the third child in a family of seven. I and my siblings still share moments to date. I am an outgoing sociable person that relates to everyone.

I do have different categories of relationships at the moment. I have my King; my husband, my children, and my staff, I do have my widow’s foundation members, my fellow Rotarians, my kingdom women, youths, my church members, women in business, royal queens of the Niger Delta of Nigeria, etc., the list is not exhaustive.

My relationship with my King is positive. This is our 25th year of marriage and we have three beautiful children. We work together to keep our kingdom afloat and peaceful. We are great friends. Our relationship strength lies in our mutual respect and our faith in God. My children and I synergize in most of our adventure together, people mistake us as siblings. I have always taught them and treated them with great respect.  Our motor is to be courageous and kind, that has kept us together.

As for my widow’s foundation members, I visit and spend time with them periodically and support them. They are a source of joy to me and I also elicit joy from them at my visit. My fellow Rotarians are a wonderful group of people, whose ideals are to help the underprivileged. My association with them gives me satisfaction.

My kingdom, women, youths, children, etc., are my delight. I have been on the throne for the last 25 years. I believe, the platform, I occupy was given to me to touch lives positively and these I have done to the best of my ability. I often create programs for them and visit them to assist them, for they reverence me, and I enjoy being among them, as they always spoil me with care.

My church members assist me to uphold my faith and they are always ready to help. We have fellowship together. The women in business, I mentor and those in my profession, we assist each other to make our business better. With the Royal Queens of the Niger Delta Initiative, we share ideas, help each other with kingdom matters, attend functions together and have developmental programs to enhance our status, inform, and educate us.

Most challenges I have had in relationships have been trusting issues. Those I have had issues with have betrayed my trust. I have had to forgive but I have stayed away from such persons over time. People also try to take me for granted due to my kindness and status. When you do not trust people, it will be difficult to work with them. Trust is a major issue to address and maintain in any relationship.

Special characteristics in relationships that make them partnership, would be when people work together to attain a common goal. Mostly, progressive.

My experiences with relationships and partnerships could impact my profession as a childhood professionals in many ways. Such as being patient, forgives easily, accommodate and accept people, caring, sharing, protective of those I care about, always ready to help, providing feedback when necessary, encouraging people, and being responsive (Weiss, Caspe & Lopez, 2006). These factors I have learnt over the years are very necessary for supporting the development of a child that will be beneficial in my profession as a childhood professional.

Conclusion

Relationships have played a major role in the formation of my character and my attitude to life. Most of the relationship I have had has encouraged me, taught me, principles of life, given the needed platform to excel and I know I am better for it.

It seems that you know how to build a firm foundation in a relationship, but also how to keep that relationship strong. As you do this I can see that you also set and example for those that surround you. I cannot wait to find out more about you through this course.

    1. Dear Heather,
Thanks for the visit and for all your kind words. Never mind about the blog creation issues, I figured it out soon after the inquiry. I have been in education for years as a proprietress and my focus has been on year 7-12, but now I have gone into preschoolers. So I need every help I can get, that's why I am back to school. I like to be hands on, in my business. I always build the systems and structures and let my staff just walk in, it helps so the business is ongoing in my absence. I hope to count on your knowledge and experience to support me. Thanks for understanding and God bless you.

  4. Queen Josephine,

I enjoyed reading your blog. It is amazing how you have created so many positive relationships. Looking at your circle of relationships inspires me to see the beauty in relationships. I once was considered as a social butterfly, however, after experiencing my share of trust issues, my relationships are limited now. The ones that remain are strong, positive, and genuine; I cherish every moment being with them. Continue to let your light shine so that others will continue to see the beauty in you.
